A few years ago, during a pretty stressful time in my life, I discovered the amazing relaxation powers of Yoga. There are of course phases where I practice often and then not very much, but it’s always been one of my favorite ways to unwind.
When I moved up north though, classes were WAY more expensive than in Florida and I couldn’t go as frequently. I’ve tried Yoga DVD’s in the past, but really struggled to find one that relaxed me and made me feel like I was in a class.
Well, after a lot of searching I’ve finally found the perfect at home replacement – Down Dog App!
Currently it is only available for iPad or iPhone, but this is hands down the best at home yoga offering I have ever found.
The creators have filmed a variety of different moves, and every time you use the app it generates a completely different sequence. That’s right, you will not get bored with the same routine after a few weeks.
At first they only offered a Beginner Flow, but in the past month or so they’ve also added a Intermediate Flow and a Lullaby Flow (perfect for a quick practice right before bed). Depending on what flow you choose, you can go anywhere from a quick 12 minute practice to about an hour.
Another great feature is you can select the style of music you’d like to play during your practice, and it rotates every time you use the app so no getting tired of that after a few weeks either. I usually prefer the Acoustic playlist, but there is also an Alternative Beats option as well or you can just choose none.
Adrienne, the teacher who will demonstrate each pose, also has an incredibly soothing voice which is very easy to relax to. She describes each pose, and how you should feel in the pose, perfectly.
If you’ve never tried yoga or have very little experience with it, this is still a great app to try. Even my husband, who had never done yoga before, is a fan 🙂
Oh, and last but not least if you still aren’t convinced… this app is free!! You have nothing to lose if you’ve been looking to try yoga or love yoga, and honestly I love this app so much I would pay for it if I could.
FYI – I’m not being paid to write this review. This is an app I really love and wanted to share with you all 🙂
